Letter to the Editor: You've got to be kidding me...

Hey, Joe...Looks like you've got an unhappy NYC Democratic mayor.  You know him, right?  [Eric Andrews]  It seems like 42,000 illegal immigrants have sought asylum in  New York City since last spring.  He stated, "We continue to  surpass our moral obligations with shelter, food, health care, education, and a host of other services.

Letter to the Editor: Abortion

Dear Editor,Life begins at the point of conception. No one can deny that after a human being is conceived it will develop into the very same being as those debating this issue. What astounds me is that those who favor abortion went through an identical development stage as the being they are condemning to death. Would these very same people agree that a similar choice should have been made about their own existence? How many human lives have been lost that could have added to our society in so many ways?Abortion today is used primarily as a birth control of convenience because people are too self-centered to take precautions.

Build a Bridge and Get over it

"Build a Bridge and get over it" was the line used by Supervisor Rick Primmer in a campaign letter in support of the former Benton County Attorney, David Thompson. Quoting a line he said that came from his own father, Primmer addressed what he thought were reasons that people had for not wanting to vote for former County Attorney David Thompson...oh and also the lone supervisor who welcomed huge campaign signs on his property in support of Thompson.

CHECK YOUR HOUSE FOR CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS!

What do these people have in common? George W. Bush Barack ObamaDonald TrumpJoe BidenMike Pence. That's right, they all served as United States President or Vice President...Oh and they all had classified documents outside the White House. That's right, documents have now been found in Mike Pence's house. I'm telling ya, everyone needs to check your garage, look under the bed, check in the toy box, I'm telling you, the classified papers are running loose around the country.

Letter to the Editor: Cruelty is the point

Dear Editor, The Iowa House presented House File 3, which severely restricts SNAP recipients on what they can purchase. Red meat is out. Bread is out. There are about 23 things that are actually in. Not surprisingly, Thomas Gerholt, our local representative from Atkins, supports this monstrous bill and is a co-sponsor.This is the kind of thing that should make Iowans proud.

Letter to the Editor: Papers...Papers Everywhere

Dear Editor, Can anyone remember the 60 Minutes Show when President Biden slammed former President Trump about the classified papers he removed from the White House and refused to return?  I believe he called it disgraceful.  Whose face is red now? The President copped an Attitude about the papers in his "locked" garage.  "They were in my locked garage with my corvette.

Letter to the Editor: Weekend Thoughts about the Border visit

Dear Editor,1/6/2023It's a bit too late...Well, Well...What a surprise announcement.  President Biden now believes we have a border crisis.  Where has he been?  Hey, maybe he believed his VP from her noteworthy appearance on Meet the Press.  "The border is secure."   He plans to make an appearance in the general area of the border this Sunday.

Letter to the Editor: Happiest Girl in the World

Dear Editor, Two noteworthy things occurred in 1966: I graduated from Washington High School here in Vinton, and Joe Paterno was hired as the coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions.  [Only kidding about the first part!]  I became a HUGE Penn State fan.  I'd bleed navy blue and white.Even though Joepa won a record 409 football games, the last Rose Bowl appearance was in 1995.

Happy New Year!

I will be taking off on Friday and Monday over the New Year holiday. No, I won't be flying off to some exotic location or doing anything spectacular. I'll be working, but not on anything that you will see on the website. There won't be an outbound email on either of these days. However, I'll probably still be plugging information onto the site.

Letter to the Editor: Your tired, your hungry, your poor

Dear Editor, Is there a second Statue of Liberty on the border between the United States and Mexico?  I thought it was outside New York.  "Give us your tired, your hungry, your poor"...  If there is, BLOW IT UP!!!We have problems in this country: unemployment, high gas prices, staggering food prices [if you can find what you want], mass shootings [we had 629 this year[, and so on.
