Swim team in the water at Boone this week
The VSU Swim team competed in Boone last night. They faced some strong teams but Vinton-Shellsburg held their own where they could! The Girls Swim Team did well this week. There is still have some illness circling through the team so we were short-handed again on Tuesday night. In spite of that, the girls still had a strong showing in the events that we did swim!We will be heading to Boone on Tuesday, September 26! VSU Double Dual with Linn Mar (JV) and Tipton
Vinton-Shellsburg/Union won six events, including all three relays last Thursday night.The 200 Free Relay had their fastest time of the season at 1:58.41. Olivia Schminke had some fantastic splits, going 27.15 in her 50 yard leg of the 200 Free Relay, 1:01.52 in her 100 leg of the 400 Free Relay and 36.20 in her 50 Breaststroke leg of the 200 Medley Relay.

Girls Swimming Williamsburg Invitational 9/11/23
The Williamsburg meet resulted in medals for two local swimmers. Tori Elwick came away with two 3rd place finishes in her individual 50 and 100 Freestyles. Olivia Schminke has been making great strides in a new event for her this season - the 100 Breaststroke - cutting time each meet she swims it. She took home a 2nd place medal last night and shaved well over 2 seconds off her previous best. Viking Wrestling Club October 10, 2023
The Viking Wrestling club is designed to help area youth improve their wrestling skills, be part of a team, and build a foundation for future wrestling activities. There will be several optional opportunities throughout the year to attend tournaments and dual meets across Iowa in preparation for AAU and Super Pee Wee District and State competitions.
Girls Swimming Waterloo Meet on 9/9/23
Girls Swimming was at Waterloo Saturday for a 9-team invitational. Final results are attached, and one photo - Olivia Schminke completing the breaststroke leg of her 200 Individual Medley, she placed 4th out of 23 in the event.Tori Elwick was our highest place finisher on the day - bringing home a 3rd place finish in the 100 Freestyle in a time of 1:01. ~The tournament is open to the public, and admission is free~ Athletes and Unified partners from across the state will assemble in West Des Moines on September 29 and 30 to compete in the Special Olympics Iowa Fall Classic. The Fall Classic will feature over 600 athletes competing in volleyball, pickleball, flag football, equestrian, and Unified golf.

Kids, stop by the Lil Racer Car Club at Benton County Speedway this Sunday and help us get ready for next Spring 2024, our 19th year in business. Color a picture and take home a trophy, enjoy a free juice pouch, grab a racing flag and/or a stuffed animal of your choice.
