RedTail Sports Shooting Earns Fifth Trap-Singles Title at Nationals
Hawkeye RedTail Sports Shooting claimed numerous awards, including team titles in Trap-Singles and Trap-Doubles, and High-Over-All Runner-Up at the 2023 ACUI/SCTP College Nationals held March 20-25, at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas.“We shot really well for this being these RedTails first time at the National Shooting Complex,” said head coach Troy Emley. The first green flag of the season is set to wave during Spring Thunder action Sunday, April 30 at Benton County Speedway.The special event serves as the first stop for the inaugural season of the Pro Late Model Tour and will offer increased prize money to a number of divisions that compete weekly at The Bullring.In addition to the $300-to-start, $1,500-to-win Late Model special, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds will vie for a $1,250 winner’s share and qualifying eligibility for this year’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. The Iowa High School Athletic Association on Monday released its high school football assignments for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.Teams in the eight-player division through Class 4A are assigned to districts and Class 5A teams are separated into groups. Assignments are on a two-year cycle.Schedules for the 2023 and 2024 seasons will be released in April, according to the IHSAA.

The face-off between Vinton-Shellsburg and Benton Community on the basketball court in Des Moines has been the talk of the town. Vinton-Shellsburg knocked the team that was considered to be the best, Estherville off their first-place standing. The game finished in Vinton's favor at 54-46.
