Stormin' Vikings keep Fighting through illness

The break is arriving at just the right time for the Stormin’ Viking swimmers who are looking forward to the opportunity to get healthy and put in some work. Flu, strep, COVID, injuries and other ailments have hit the team hard the past three weeks.  Several days this week a third to half of the team were out, with several unable to practice at all this week.

Stormin' Vikings bring in strong performance

Despite injury and illness, the Stormin’ Vikings managed to turn in a solid performance Saturday at the Tiger Invitational in Grinnell.  Down five of their 18 swimmers, and a couple others slowed by injury, VS/CPU managed a respectable 6th out of 9 teams and only four points behind Muscatine. Second-ranked Linn-Mar finished first by a considerable margin over Indianola and Ottumwa.

Girls' Basketball Rankings have area schools in the top 9

The third Iowa Girls High School Basketball Rankings of 2022 are now out. In CLASS 3A Estherville Lincoln Central and West Marshall beat out third-place Center Point-Urbana and fourth-place holder Benton Community for the top slots. Vinton-Shellsburg is now holding the 9th place.

VS/CPU Boys Swim at Linn Mar

The VS/CPU boys swim split on Tuesday night at Linn Mar vs LM and Waterloo. Linn Mar is going to be one of the top few teams in the state. They are absolutely loaded. We swam really well for our first meet. Ian Allsup is off to a great start in his quest to capture five team records this season. Vikette Basketball Team visits Kiwanis

Ryan Davis, and the Vinton Vikettes basketball team, spoke with the Vinton Kiwanis group.Davis shared the accomplishments of the team. Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes fall short

Class 3A Seventh-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes fell short to the Class 1A third-ranked North Linn Lynx on Saturday evening at Kirkwood Community College’s Johnson Hall Rivalry Saturday.After the Vikettes took a brief 5-4 lead, the Lynx held the advantage lead after one quarter 19-12, the Lynx had 38-28 at the half. At the end of the third quarter the Vikettes were behind 38-50.
