Vikings win home track meet

The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking 4 x 200 relay team, which set an indoor Wamac record earlier this season, continues to win. The quartet of Joel Barnes, Jordan Womochil, Tyler Bartz and Nick Hyland won first place at the Viking Invitational Thursday in Vinton, with a time of 1:31.

Vikettes win: Tandy, Maynard lead VS at Independence

The VS Vikettes won again on the golf course, defeating Independence in a dual at Independence on Thursday afternoon. Senior Lauren Tandy (44) was the medalist and sophomore Alex Maynard earned her first medal, finishing second with a 48.

7 on 7 passing league continues; remaining schedule listed

Nearly 50 young people (including some girls) have participated in the first-ever Vinton-Shellsburg 7-on-7 football passing league. Those who have not yet signed up are welcome to attend upcoming sessions, says league organizer Andy May.

Noren, Stueck lead Viking golfers to win vs. S. Tama

Grant Noren led the way Tuesday carding a 36 as the Vikings defeated South Tama 150 – 214.  The course is in great shape and the temperature was perfect to get the season started.

Lauren and Rachel Tandy led the Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf team to victory at South Tama on Tuesday. Vikettes win first triangular of season at Solon

Senior Olivia Walker led the VS girls golf team to victory over Solon and West Delaware on Thursday.  Walker shot a 51 for the Vikings, who edged Solon by 1 stroke.
