Vikings split with Benton, improve to 16-11
With two weeks left in the regular season, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings baseball team is 16-11 and hoping to keep improving as they seek to return to the State Tournament.
Tyler Rippel, who pitched for the Vikes at State last year, held Benton Community scoreless in the first of two games on Monday. The Vikings won 9-0, as Rippel allowed four hits and three walks in pitching all seven innings.

Vikings improve to 14-8; to travel to DeWitt Central tonight
The Vinton-Shellsburg varsity baseball team won two of three games early this week and has double-headers tonight and a game at Mount Vernon on Friday before hosting rival Benton Community for a double-header on Monday.

Monday---Vikings split a conference double header with Clear Creek-Amana losing the first game 2-5 and winning the second game 9-3.

Vinton-Shellsburg High School is pleased to announce that several 2015-16 Spring activities have been recognized for their academic achievements. The Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union recognize the following:
The Distinguished Academic Achievement Award is awarded to the teams who achieved a combined grade point average of 3.
