VPRD to host Glow Ball Golf Tournament Saturday, August 13th

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is once again hosting a Glow Ball Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 13th at the Vinton Country Club. This will be a two-person best shot 9-hole event that will begin at dark (approximately 9 PM). The cost is $40 per team and includes use of glow golf balls, light sticks, glow necklaces and a chance to win prizes.

'Back the Blue:' VS-Union game to feature shirts honoring law enforcement

Back the Blue: VS and Union fans can purchase these shirts for the Sept. 2 game in LPC. The Black & Gold and Black & Red will "Back the Blue" when Vinton-Shellsburg travels to Union for a Week 2 football game on Sept. 2. The Union football team has a tradition of patriotic-themed nights this year, but they are specifically honoring law enforcement this season. The invitation to participate extends to all area residents and football fans, and specifically members of four communities: La Porte, Vinton, Dysart and Shellsburg.

Hogan on Fast Shafts Invitational Ballot again; voting ends Aug. 5

The first round of voting for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational has ended. Two drivers from each of the five regions for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified regions were voted onto the starting grid. Viking baseball wrap up: New records set in 2016 season

Seniors Tyler Rasmussen, Tyler Rippel and Jordan Womochil were honored at Viking BB wrapup. The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings and Coach Jim Struve gathered at Pizza Ranch for their annual wrap-up this week. Coach Struve honored some players for setting records, and presented team awards as well as all-conference and all-district honors.

VS alumn Liz Hill leads Lansing Kee to Class 1A Softball Championship

Lansing Kee Softball Coach Liz Hill holds the State Championship trophy Friday. A 7-3 win over Akron-Westfield Friday night made the Lansing Kee High softball team the Class 1 champions. The team is coached by Vinton-Shellsburg graduate Liz Hill, who starred on the diamond for the Vikettes before setting home run records at Mount Mercy. Hill also led the team, which includes three of her cousins, to 2nd place at State in 2014.

4th Annual V-S Alumni Softball Game, Saturday, July 30th

Come join us for our 4th annual V-S alumni softball game on Saturday, July 30th at 6pm! We will have a raffle drawing for a V-S softball sign and a V-S softball car decal professionally made by Bunten Designs!
