Viking baseball wrap up: New records set in 2016 season

Seniors Tyler Rasmussen, Tyler Rippel and Jordan Womochil were honored at Viking BB wrapup. The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings and Coach Jim Struve gathered at Pizza Ranch for their annual wrap-up this week. Coach Struve honored some players for setting records, and presented team awards as well as all-conference and all-district honors.

VS alumn Liz Hill leads Lansing Kee to Class 1A Softball Championship

Lansing Kee Softball Coach Liz Hill holds the State Championship trophy Friday. A 7-3 win over Akron-Westfield Friday night made the Lansing Kee High softball team the Class 1 champions. The team is coached by Vinton-Shellsburg graduate Liz Hill, who starred on the diamond for the Vikettes before setting home run records at Mount Mercy. Hill also led the team, which includes three of her cousins, to 2nd place at State in 2014.

4th Annual V-S Alumni Softball Game, Saturday, July 30th

Come join us for our 4th annual V-S alumni softball game on Saturday, July 30th at 6pm! We will have a raffle drawing for a V-S softball sign and a V-S softball car decal professionally made by Bunten Designs! Each paid entry into the game automatically gets their name put into the drawing. Additionally entries will be $1 each. Gate will be charged as $5 per adult and $3 per student.

Family feud: Hill and her cousins defeat former coach's daughters at State

Vinton native Liz Hill is leading the Lansing Kee softball team back to State. When Vinton-Shellsburg varsity softball coach Bari Parrott went to the first-round game of the Class 1A State Softball Tournament, he found himself cheering for both teams. One one side – Belle Plaine – were Parrott's daughters, Lily and Grace. On the other, one of his former star players – Liz Hill. Hill, a 2008 V-S graduate, played Vikettes before going to Mount Mercy, where she set a new career home run record.

Vikings one win away from returning to State Baseball Tournament

District Baseball Site Changed for July 18th

Due to the storm damage to the Vinton-Shellsburg field, the Class 3A, District 7 – Vinton-Shellsburg vs. Marion baseball game has been moved from Vinton-Shellsburg to the Benton Community field.  Start time will still be 7:00 pm.
