Blowout brings VS athletes, cheerleaders together for pre-season introductions

The VSHS football players put on their pads and helmets to scrimmage against Marion; the volleyball team members scrimmaged against each other. And every athlete and cheerleader involved in fall sports at the high school and middle school level --- along with their coaches -- had the chance to stand before the home crowd during the annual Vinton Shellsburg Blowout.

Ninja Narwhals: VS girls win Championship, Sportsmanship at Iowa Games

This group of Vinton-Shellsburg U14 girls competed in the Iowa Games in Ames during July and won the Championship in their division.  Recently, Chuck Long, CEO/Executive Director of the Iowa Games sent a letter and more medals to the "Ninja Narwhals" congratulating them on also winning the Jim Hallihan Sportsmanship Award.
