Once again it’s my favorite season of the year, football! We are fortunate that we get to kick off our season with our very own V/S Vikings taking the field with down the road rival Benton Community.

Dozens of young football players in grades 4-6 served lunch at Fareway on Saturday to raise funds for equipment and other expenses for their youth football teams.

Vinton Country Club Men’s Championship: Berry, Boddicker receive trophies

The Vinton Country Club held its Men’s Golf Championship on Sunday, August 22.  Twenty-Four golfers took part in this flighted tournament that not only decided the club champion and handicap champion but also set the team for the Cedar Valley Ryder Cup event that will be held on Sunday, August 29, at the Vinton  Country Club.

Out of Bounds: A few of my favorite and not-so-favorite teams

Hi all!  I haven’t been around for a while, but then again, softball ended over a month ago. After conversations with Dean last week, it looks as if I’ll be making my Vinton Today return this week as Viking football (and the rest of the fall sports schedule) opens Friday night against Benton Community at Karr Sports Complex.
