Football camp, practice remind players of V-S goal: Post-season

More than 120 young athletes joined the Vinton-Shellsburg High School football players during Football Camp last week. At the end of the camp, players received T-shirts.

Winners of the 2010 Benton County Speedway Coloring Contest were announced during feature events at the speedway on Sunday, August 8, 2010. The young artists competed in 3 age brackets with top winners receiving a trophy and prize package including Vinton Value Dollars courtesy of Vinton Unlimited.

Welcome to another weekly summary of the races at the birthplace of the IMCA Modified, Benton County Speedway.  Before I get started I want to mention how tough it is out there racing as I got my first taste of Hobby Stock racing at Hawkeye Downs this past Friday night.

Next year, the current Vinton 12 and under team that enjoyed a successful season, winning tournaments against teams from all over Iowa, will be playing in the 13 and under league.
