For a fourth time, a Hogan family reunion was held in and all around victory lane. Scott Hogan won Sunday’s Hogan Memorial IMCA Modified feature at Benton County Speedway.

Done too soon…Vikettes fall in Regional opener to BC, 6-2

VAN HORNE – A season of ups and downs for the Vinton-Shellsburg softball team ended on a down Saturday night, as the Vikettes dropped a 6-2 decision to Benton Community in the first round of the Class 3A Regional tournament at the Bobcats’ field.

Leyden pitches, homers Vikings to victory against CCA

Senior Taylor Leyden led off the game with a home one, and ended it the same way.  In between, he pitched all nine innings as the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings took Game 1 from Clear Creek-Amana, 4-3.

Vikettes take dramatic 5-4 win over Jesup

Nothing like a little drama… The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes wrapped up their fifth-straight winning season and did it in dramatic fashion Tuesday night with a 5-4 win over Jesup in a non-conference tilt at Thole Field.
