Despite injury and illness, the Stormin’ Vikings managed to turn in a solid performance Saturday at the Tiger Invitational in Grinnell.  Down five of their 18 swimmers, and a couple others slowed by injury, VS/CPU managed a respectable 6th out of 9 teams and only four points behind Muscatine.

The third Iowa Girls High School Basketball Rankings of 2022 are now out. In CLASS 3A Estherville Lincoln Central and West Marshall beat out third-place Center Point-Urbana and fourth-place holder Benton Community for the top slots.

The VS Wrestling Cheer Squad has teamed up with Blessed Duo and is selling apparel and gift items to raise money for new mats, uniforms and camp opportunities.

The VS/CPU boys swim split on Tuesday night at Linn Mar vs LM and Waterloo. Linn Mar is going to be one of the top few teams in the state. They are absolutely loaded.

Ryan Davis, and the Vinton Vikettes basketball team, spoke with the Vinton Kiwanis group.Davis shared the accomplishments of the team. This year Joe Johnson, who coached the boy's basketball team for the last several years took on the team after a series of events left them in need of a coach.

Tonight, was our first bowling meet and all teams were victorious.  I am so proud of the spirit these kids bring to the table.  It is such a great sight to have members stepping up and taking on the challenge in the new season.

Class 3A Seventh-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes fell short to the Class 1A third-ranked North Linn Lynx on Saturday evening at Kirkwood Community College’s Johnson Hall Rivalry Saturday.

Sophia Kreutner, the daughter of Brian and Jennifer Kreutner has signed with Kirkwood Community College with plans to join the softball team.

The latest basketball rankings are in from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. All three area schools are listed in the top 8 in the rankings. Benton Community came in 5th 19-6, Vinton-Shellsburg at 7th 15-9 and Center Point-Urbana 21-4 in the Class 3A rankings.
