The Bullring is back in action May 15
Increased purse money will be up for grabs Sunday, May 15 at Benton County Speedway.Billed as the Dirt Knights TV Special, five weekly divisions will compete on the quarter-mile Bullring for the second night of weekly points racing.A winner’s share of $750 will be on the line in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.5, while winners of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company will pocket $500 each.
Murty, Thornton, Olson race to opening night wins at The Bullring
After Mother Nature twice delayed season opening action, weekly points racing made a successful return Sunday night to Benton County Speedway.Also making a successful return was a familiar face in victory lane following the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Dallon Murty won an entertaining battle with his father, Damon, to score the win.The father and son drew front row starting spots and proceeded to put on a show for the duration of the 15-lapper.
Area Youth take part in the 2022 Annual Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Meet
Over 160 area youth ranging in ages from 5 to 14 years old participated in the Vinton Parks &
Recreation Department sponsored Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Meet on Wednesday, May 4 at
the Karr Athletic Complex. A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers that generously
donated their time to help make this event a success! All youth that participated received a
certificate.

Goals galore helps Vikettes defeat Trojans 10-0TAMA – Therde were goals galore on April 29 as the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity soccer team defeated the South Tama Trojans by a 10-goal mercy rule, 10-0 at South Tama High School. Bree Swenson picked up a hat trick, with Abby Davis also picking up a goal.The Vikettes are now 7-2 (4-1 WaMaC West), dropping the Trojans to 2-9 (0-5 WaMaC West).

In less than two months, Party in Pink participants will be pounding the pavement as they set out for a tenth time to show that “Hope Runs Pink” in Benton County. Organizers have set Friday, June 17 as the date for this year’s annual fundraising event to benefit Gifts of Hope.
In honor of the tenth anniversary, a 10K route has been added as an option for participants.

Iowa High School Sports Network adds Boys State Soccer to Broadcast Lineup
For the first time ever, the Iowa High School Sports Network will broadcast the Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys State Soccer Tournament finals, June 4th at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines. IHSSN will air the class 1A, 2A and 3A championship matches beginning at 1 p.m. The addition of soccer brings IHSSN’s total yearly events to over 90.

Benton County Speedway Bullring Lil Racer Car Club Registration begins on Sunday
The Benton County Speedway Bullring Lil Racer Car Club is excited to be back in its clubhouse this Sunday and is looking forward to another fun year with all the Lil Racers. Club registration this year begins on Sunday and will run for a couple of weeks. When kids register, they will receive a new club permit, lanyard and badge holder for the season.
