Team scores were not finalized until this morning so are not included in the PDF below, but are as follows:Williamsburg: 124Vinton: 83Osky: 77Keokuk: 15There were some great times last night - season bests from 13 swims, with 8 of those being personal bests. Mac Goodell took on the monumental task of swimming butterfly in the Medley Relay, the 200 Free, the 500 Free and the 400 Free Relay - it's arguably one of the most challenging combinations of events a swimmer can do in 1 meet.

Following the June closure of the IHSAA’s museum program at the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines, wall art, graphics, and accessories from the facility will be made available for public purchase through the online auction form below. Most graphics feature photos and facts highlighting the history of Iowa high school activities.The items are available “as is” and must be picked up by the highest bidder at the Iowa Hall of Pride (330 Park Street, Des Moines, IA 50009) on Tuesday, October 11 or Saturday, October 15.

Nathan's Smiles 2nd Annual 5K Glow Fun Run will be held on Saturday, October 22. Last year the run brought in $6,000 which was used for trail improvement and scholarships for Vinton-Shellsburg seniors.We are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Nathan's Miles Glow Fun Run 5K!!! This is a great, affordable family event. Last year there were over 200 participants and Nathan's Miles Foundation was able to give a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Vinton-Shellsburg through registrations and generous donations!There will be a Kids Glow Run at 6:15 p.

On what was a chilly evening, the Vinton Vikings football team took every opportunity to shut out Maquoketa's Cardinals. The Vikings prevented the Cardinals from scoring a single point at this year's homecoming game...something that hasn't happened for several years.With a final score of 41-0 the Vikings sent the Cardinals packing! Congratulations Vikings players and coaches!Below is a link of the national anthem being played by the high school band accompanied by a fireworks display by Phil Travis and Tim Bird.

VS girls swam well last night against Tipton, Williamsburg and host team CR Kennedy - coming in 3rd behind the two teams that were more than twice our size each. 7 of the 11 swimming events were won by VS (we took 1st AND 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke) and 2 more events had VS in second place. We just didn't have the bodies to score supporting points we need to be more competitive in the team standings.

Vinton-Shellsburg High School will be buzzing with several events this week.  On Thursday night beginning at 6:00 p.m., the Homecoming parade will begin at 4th St. and B Ave. Come on out and cheer our football team!Following the parade, there will be a pep rally at the Karr Complex with the Homecoming Coronation Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. The Jr.

The girls swam well - Justyce Dominick, Tori Elwick, and Lauren Moore all won individual events; they also combined with Olivia Schminke to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. Justyce was a solid 20 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher in her 200 Freestyle. Tori continues to cut time literally every time she swims the 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke - she's really coming into her own this year.

Vinton Parks and Rec Department dedicated the new pickleball courts at the B.L. Anderson Park located across from Tilford Elementary. The new courts are now called the Ann & Denny Williams Courts, in honor of its beneficiaries. Several residents gathered for the official dedication. Matt Boggess of Vinton Parks and Recreation said that the couple has been great supporters of the Pickleball community in Vinton.

VS swam in Grinnell last night against some strong competition. The results are attached. 14 of our 20 swims saw improved times, many of them significant time drops and several of them being personal bests. Sara Johnson dropped 2.24 seconds to set her lifetime personal best of 30.69 in her 50 Freestyle - Sarah has been working hard in practices and it's showing in big drops in the pool.

This Saturday night the Bullring Lil Racer Car Club will be OPEN for its final night of the 2022 season, during the track’s 5000 to Win Hoker Trucking East Series Late Model Special. Kids, make sure to stop by the clubhouse and get your prize numbers for our prize drawings, your racing flag, juice boxes, freezer pops and coloring pictures and to take home a trophy of your very own! One lucky child will become our final 2022 “Lil Racer of the Week sponsored by The Pizza Place of Center Point”.
