A hefty payday will be on the line for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Vermedahl Logistics May 22 at Benton County Speedway.The Sunday event pays $1,000 to win and earns the feature winner qualifying eligibility for the B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational at this year’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.In addition to the hefty winner’s share, the Stock Car feature will pay $100 to start.

Vikette soccer shut out by Spartans 1-0SOLON – The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity soccer (11-4) took on the Solon Spartans (13-3) at Solon's Spartan Stadium with the Spartans defeating the Vikettes 1-0 in the final regular-season match.Vikette senior forward Grace Sutton ended the regular season with 26 goals and junior Abby Davis concluded the regular season with 16 goals and ten assists.

Vikette soccer loses to Stormin' Pointers 4-0CENTER POINT – The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity soccer team (11-3, 4-2 WaMaC West) took on the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers (10-3, 5-1 WaMaC West) at Fross Park in Center Point.The Stormin' Pointers got a goal past Vikette keeper Alyssa Griffith three minutes into the match, and never looked back, the led 3-0 at the half and won the match 4-0.

The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity soccer team (10-4, 6-0 WaMaC West) took on the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers at the Karr Athletic Complex in Vinton and swept the WaMaC West divisional standings for the second consecutive season, scoring three goals.Alex Guenther, Logan Zearley and Gunnar Moen all scored goals in game to win the match 3-0.

The Benton County Speedway Bullring Lil Racer Car Club will be OPEN again for business this Sunday, May 15 after registering 55 club members on opening night. We gave away eight wonderful door prizes and selected our, “Lil Racer of the Week, sponsored by The Pizza Place of Center Point.” The Lil Racer of the Week received a 6 FOOT trophy, a Scentsy Warmer and wax bar to give his mom for Mother’s Day, AND a Pizza cutout, good for one FREE small pizza from The Pizza Place.

Increased purse money will be up for grabs Sunday, May 15 at Benton County Speedway.Billed as the Dirt Knights TV Special, five weekly divisions will compete on the quarter-mile Bullring for the second night of weekly points racing.A winner’s share of $750 will be on the line in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.5, while winners of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company will pocket $500 each.

Goals galore helps Vikettes defeat Trojans 10-0TAMA – Therde were goals galore on April 29 as the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity soccer team defeated the South Tama Trojans by a 10-goal mercy rule, 10-0 at South Tama High School. Bree Swenson picked up a hat trick, with Abby Davis also picking up a goal.The Vikettes are now 7-2 (4-1 WaMaC West), dropping the Trojans to 2-9 (0-5 WaMaC West).
