Viking cross country fifth at Clipper Cross Country ClassicIOWA CITY - The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity cross country team traveled to the Iowa City Kickers' Soccer Club in Iowa City for the Clipper Cross Country Classic and finished fifth. Elijah Blix finished ninth with a 19:41.38.Aldin Swanson finished 13th with a 19:58.00, Merritt Bodeker finished 14th with a 20:07.

Curtis Erickson led the Vikings in rushing yards with 117 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown and senior Kale Schulte led the Vikings in receiving yards with 32 on two catches and one touchdown.

VSU Swimming @ Kennedy 9/21
VSU Girls swam against the JV team of Cedar Rapids Kennedy last night and came out on top 92-79. VSU had some great swims on the night - a couple of highlights being Carlie Spore and Justyce Dominick achieving goal times in the 500 Freestyle that they've been working toward for a long time. Carlie and Justyce are unique coins in the swimming world - being both strong sprinters and strong distance swimmers.

Vikette volleyball goes 2-2 at the Hawk InvitationalMANCHESTER - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette volleyball team (12-10) traveled to Sedorrff Gym in Manchester for the Hawk Invitational on Sept. 19 and took on the Independence Mustangs, West Delaware Hawks, Oelwein Huskies, and Starmont Stars. They defeated the Stars 2-1, defeated the Huskies, 2-0 (21-14, 21-18), were defeated by the Mustangs 2-0 (21-15, 21-14), and defeated by the Hawks 2-0 (21-19, 21-8).
