Five familiar faces find victory lane at Benton County Speedway

Troy Cordes raced to his 5th IMCA Modified win this season on Sunday at Benton Co. Speedway (Wittke) With the weekly points battles entering the final month of the season, drivers who'd already experienced success this season at Benton County Speedway made return trips to the winner's circle Sunday night at The Bullring.Although it had been nearly two months since his most recent win on the quarter-mile, KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modified driver Troy Cordes showed why he's the point leader in the 20-lapper for that division.

"Back to School Night" Backpack giveaway at the Benton County Speedway

This Sunday night at the Benton County Speedway Bullring Lil Racer Car Club will be our "Back to School Night" Backpack Giveaway! Over 100 backpacks, filled with school supplies, will be given away to school-age kids as they get ready to head back to the classroom this Fall with their friends. All kids under the age of 14 are invited to stop by the Lil Racer Clubhouse and sign our Registration sheet, where they will then receive a ticket, which will need to be handed to our Backpack Coordinator, Janice Smith, in order to receive a brand new pack for school.

Lil Racer Car Club looks forward to "Back to School Night, July 25!

The Benton County Bullring Lil Racer Car Club will be getting back to our normal ways this Sunday after taking a back seat to the Urbana 5 Group, who had goody bags and a bicycle giveaway last Sunday night. We did begin our "Kids Coloring for Trophies!" promotion again last Sunday as some recent trophy donations have allowed us to start handing them back out to kids who take the time to color us a picture, bring the picture to us at the clubhouse, and exchange it for the trophy of their choosing.

Pladsen working to kick up a Storm at Simpson

Jesse Pladsen is working hard to make the team at Simpson VINTON -- Going back a year, former Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings' placekicker Jesse Pladsen was not thinking about anything beyond the 2020 season. But catching up the present, he has higher sights in mind.In a few weeks, Pladsen will be on his way to Indianola to compete for a spot at the varsity kicker for the Simpson College football team. It has been an interesting year.

78 Lil Racers register at Lil Racer Car Club Clubhouse for "Father's Day/4th"

Seventy eight Lil Racers signed in at the Lil Racer Clubhouse Sunday night and took part in our Father's Day Prize Giveaway. All club members got free chances to try and win one of 16 different prizes for their dads. Many happy kids and dads walked away with some thoughtful gifts. The first 100 kids received free hot dogs at the concession stand as well as free ice cream cones to the first 50.
