Independence and Vinton battle it out on the ballfield

The boy's baseball teams of Vinton-Shellsburg and Independence Community went head to head for two games tonight on the Vinton ball field. You know it's a tightly matched game with it's not over quickly! Both teams performed well, holding the other team off as best they could while Independence won with a score of 9-8.

Urbana 5 Memorial Race held for the 5th year in a Row

The Urbana 5 Memorial Committee sponsored the 5th Annual race on Sunday night at the Benton County Speedway honoring the lives of Nicole Jacobson, Quentin Ary, Triston Randall, Hunter Tuttle and Zoey Tuttle who passed away in a motor vehicle accident on April 9, 2015.

Tonight the newest team signed to play football for Vinton-Shellsburg. The 8th-grade boys met with Coach Womochil in the high school auditorium where the coach explained what will be expected from each of them as they sign to play football for the Vinton Shellsburg team.
