Schwan's begins IBSSS Alumni Association Fund-Raiser

Schwan’s and the Iowa Braille School Alumni Association have begun a fund-raising campaign to help provide education and support to the youth and young adults who are blind/visually impaired and also help raise funds for the Alumni Association. Farmers Bank Open House: Refreshements and $2 church donation program

The annual Farmers Savings Bank & Trust-Vinton Holiday Open House takes place from 8:30 to 5:30 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 5.  Customers can enjoy refreshments, and Santa Claus will come at 3:30 p.m. to greet children.  The bank is also offering customers a chance to sign their church up for a $2 donation. 

LaGrange announces plans to add office/school supplies, small appliances

As the Vinton business community adjusts to the impending closing of the local Alco store, many merchants are making some changes. One of those is LaGrange Pharmacy, where Dan LaGrange would like customers to know what changes they may see in the near future. "In an effort to better serve the residents of Vinton and the surrounding areas LaGrange Pharmacy is doing some rearranging,” says Dan.

Permit To Carry Class, Dec. 16

A course for Iowans to obtain their Permit to Carry Weapons has been scheduled in the area. The four hour course covers handgun safety, gun handling, carry options, situational awareness, interaction with law enforcement, use of force, and state and federal laws. The course teaches students how to be safe and efficient with a firearm for personal protection.

Beef Sustainability is Focus at Dubuque Conference

Dr. Jude Capper What does sustainability mean for the beef industry? That really depends on who you are asking. For example, the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef recently announced its definition of sustainable beef as a socially responsible, environmentally sound and economically viable product that prioritizes planet, people, animals, and progress. Fine tuning that definition in the minds of producers and consumers gets more complicated.

Vinton Holiday Open House set for Nov. 23

The annual Vinton Holiday Open House event takes place Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, at businesses throughout Vinton. Benton Development Group Board discusses fund-raising, new logos

Benton Development Group Board of Directors met for their monthly meeting on October 29th in Van Horne. Discussion included the following: Fundraising An update regarding the ongoing fundraising efforts was presented to the board. Emily Upah, BDG Director, showed BDG is getting very close to the final fundraising goal, but there is still some work to continue.

Clickstop Expands Finance, Shipping, and Manufacturing Teams

Harley Miller Continued growth brings eighteen new hires to several departments at the Urbana-based company. In response to another year of continued growth, Urbana-based Clickstop has hired several new employees to its US Cargo Control and Bing Miller business units.   Harley Miller joined the Clickstop team as a Part-Time Finance Associate.
