November 10, 2022The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in special session with Supervisors Seeman, Bierschenk and Primmer present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Cedar Valley Ranch business officeThe purpose of the meeting was to visit with Lorene Spencer, Cedar Valley Ranch Director along with the Board Chairman Brenda Hackbarth to discuss the business lease between Benton County and the residential care facility.

City Council will look at ATV/UTV ordinance again

During Thursday night's council meeting, the council addressed several topics of business.Shelby Baker addressed the proposed removal of the Ash trees that were included on the agenda. The removal of Ash trees was discussed  Bids will be put out for the removal of the trees in the area parks. Under old business:The council adopted Ordinance 1078 which added Chapter 124, Food Trucks.

State Auditor race still undecided

Following the election on Tuesday night. the race for the State Auditor position is still undecided. Two counties in Iowa have yet to submit final numbers for the election, Des Moines and Warren counties had technical errors requiring recounts. The Secretary of State Paul Pate has ordered an expedited recount of the votes in these two counties.

Iowa reaches second highest turnout in state history for midterms

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the unofficial turnout for the November 2022 general election was the second highest in state history for a midterm. More than 1,220,000 Iowans voted. The all-time high for an Iowa midterm election was 1,329,930, set in 2018."My thanks to Iowans from every corner of the state who made their voices heard by voting," Secretary Pate said.
