evening. Before the regular meeting they met in a work session where
the topic was concerning the sanitary sewer system on B Ave. Needed
updates and repairs were discussed.The regular meeting began promptly at
7:00 p.m. With the council conducting the usual business.
A lengthy discussion was held
concerning rezoning to permit the creation of a duplex.
Governor: Harvest Proclamation extension, potential fuel issues in Iowa
Today, Governor Kim Reynolds signed proclamations relating to the weight limits and transportation of grain, fertilizer, manure, and motor fuels. The Harvest Proclamation is effective immediately and continues through November 27, 2022. The proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer (dry, liquid, and gas), and manure (dry and liquid) to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight) without a permit for the duration of this proclamation.
Benton County Republicans hold impromptu gathering of Support
Benton County Republicans held an impromptu meeting at their Victory Office in downtown Vinton on Wednesday evening. A group of about 30 wanted to gather just to cheer on their Benton County Attorney candidate with kind words of encouragement and enjoy the fellowship of each other. The Benton County Republicans wish to remind everyone of the election on Tuesday, November 8.

Grassley, Reynolds lead Iowa Youth Straw Poll early results
More than 13,000 students across Iowa made their voices heard by participating in Secretary of State Paul Pate’s Iowa Youth Straw Poll today. Students in K-12 schools were invited to vote for their preferred candidates in Iowa’s congressional and gubernatorial races. The purpose of the poll is to serve as a fun learning activity to engage young people in civics.
