Salgar among Reynolds' Announced Appointments to Iowa’s Boards & Commissions

Gover Reynolds announced appointments to Iowa’s boards and commissions. Among the appointees is Vinton's Amy Salger who was appointed to the Commission for the Blind and joins Ryan Brems. The commission has been unable to act after the commission of three was down to just one member. The commission develops policies and programs for the Iowa Department for the Blind to help Iowa's 54,000 blind residents.

Secretary Pate urges voters to respond quickly to change of address notices

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the annual National Change of Address process to maintain the accuracy of Iowa’s voter registration records is underway. Notices are being mailed to 90,948 registered voters in Iowa who have filed a change of address with the U.S. Postal Service during the past 12 months.Voters that receive these cards should follow the instructions on the return postcard to verify or correct their voting address and return it to their county auditor’s office as soon as possible.

Week 8 at the Capitol

Week eight of the legislative session marks the completion of the first funnel. All Senate bills and joint resolutions had to be reported out of the Senate committees to be further considered. Bills that did not meet this deadline are considered to be dead. We had several subcommittee and committee meetings this week as we continue to make progress during this session.

State of Iowa selects Odyssey to administer ESA program, begins negotiations

\DES MOINES – The state of Iowa has selected Odyssey to administer its new Students First education savings accounts (ESAs).   Governor Reynolds signed the Students First Act into law on January 24, 2023. The program will provide K-12 students who attend accredited private (nonpublic) schools in Iowa with educational funding equal to “per pupil” funds allocated annually to Iowa’s public schools.
