October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Before you finish reading this, 20 people in the United States will be abused by an intimate partner. That is how prevalent domestic violence is in our country. It’s an epidemic, and it’s happening here in Iowa.October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. My office is using this time to make Iowans aware of the pervasiveness of domestic violence, and resources available to help survivors.
Gov. Reynolds signs Harvest Proclamation
Today, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation relating to the weight limits and transportation of grain, fertilizer and manure. The proclamation is effective immediately and continues through October 30, 2022. The proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer (dry, liquid, and gas), and manure (dry and liquid) to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight) without a permit for the duration of this proclamation.

More than $2.1 million will provide meals to students and build demand for farmersIowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today, as part of Iowa’s Local Food Day, that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship will provide more than $2.1 million in grants to Iowa schools as part of the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program (LFS).

Purpose. Iowa Code Section 331.302, Subsection 9, requires that once every five years a County shall compile its Code of Ordinances. This Ordinance readopts ordinances already in effect in Benton County, Iowa, and/or repeals any ordinance deemed no longer necessary to the operation of Benton County, Iowa.
