The camera change order was added to the agenda.  Vogt motioned to approve the amended consent agenda.

Miller reminds Iowa veterans of rights to time off on Veterans Day

Veterans must make request for time off one month before the holiday As we prepare to recognize the men and women who have served our country this Veterans Day, Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller reminds veterans of their right to request time off for the November 11 holiday.  In 2010, Iowa Code section 91A.5A went into effect requiring employers to provide holiday time off on Veterans Day for employees who are veterans and would normally be required to work that day.

Secretary Pate encourages states to adopt human trafficking awareness initiative

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate urged states around the country to adopt a program similar to his Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (IBAT) initiative. He made the remarks during one of the keynote addresses at the National Association of Confidential Address Programs (NACAP) conference in Boulder, Colorado on Wednesday.Secretary Pate launched IBAT in January 2022.

Benton Soil and Water Conservation to meet October 19

The next regular meeting of the Benton Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the District Office, 1705 West D Street in Vinton.   Agenda items include: approval of minutes from previous meetings, public participation, approval of treasurer’s report and bills, approval of conservation plans, watershed reports, state cost-share programs, an update on NRCS activities, a review of the correspondence file, any other commissioner input or other business, and scheduling of the next meeting.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Before you finish reading this, 20 people in the United States will be abused by an intimate partner. That is how prevalent domestic violence is in our country. It’s an epidemic, and it’s happening here in Iowa.October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. My office is using this time to make Iowans aware of the pervasiveness of domestic violence, and resources available to help survivors.

Gov. Reynolds signs Harvest Proclamation

Today, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation relating to the weight limits and transportation of grain, fertilizer and manure.  The proclamation is effective immediately and continues through October 30, 2022. The proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer (dry, liquid, and gas), and manure (dry and liquid) to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight) without a permit for the duration of this proclamation.
