NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING September 22
A public hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, via Zoom, on the question of the adoption of proposed amended soil loss limit regulations for the lands in the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District. All persons who are likely to be affected by the amended regulations may attend and will be given an opportunity to present their views concerning the amendments.

School Board will make Masking Decision at tonight's meeting
The last three years the Vinton Shellsburg School Board has been caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to making decisions concerning mask-wearing in the schools. For the most part, the board followed the recommendations of the State of Iowa. Then Iowa Code Section 280.31, was signed into law on May 20, 2021, prohibited public school districts from requiring masks or face coverings for employees, students, or visitors.

IOWA STATE PATROL & LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO CONDUCT SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT
The Iowa State Patrol is leading Iowa's statewide Traffic Fatality Reduction Task Force in an effort to reduce deaths on Iowa roadways. As part of that effort the Patrol will be conducting a special enforcement initiative geared toward reduction of speeding drivers on Thursday, September 16. This time period is one of the most deadly in the state according to the past 10 years of crash data.
