A Banner Day for Benton County’s Economic Progress
Benton Development Group announces new projects in Benton County receiving support from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Tax credits under the High Quality Jobs (HQJ) program were approved for Frontier Co-op in Norway and the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School property in Vinton received $200,000 in redevelopment tax credits through the Brownfield/Grayfield program to repurpose the 1905 Hospital building into a brewpub.

City Council Notes October 8, 2020
The council sailed through the usual approval of routine business at the last council meeting. In a work session prior to the meeting, the Council discussed a possible changes in UTV ordinances and requirements, with several more questions to answer on the subject. There was also a discussion concerning the parking along 13th St. near and in front of Tilford Elementary and not allowing it along 13th in hopes of avoiding injuries to school children.
Gov. signs new proclamation continuing State Public Health Emergency Declaration
Today, Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency for another 30 days. The proclamation extends all the public health mitigation measures currently in place for businesses and other establishments until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020. This includes the requirements for bars and restaurants to ensure six feet of physical distance between each group or individual dining or drinking; to ensure all patrons have a seat at a table or bar and consume alcohol or food while seated; and to limit congregating together closer than six feet.
City Hall to be closed Monday Morning
Vinton City Hall will be closed until noon on Monday, October 19th, 2020 for computer [upd]s. Utility bills can still be dropped off in the drop box.

October 6, 2020The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.
