Gov. Reynolds Proclaims Sept. 21-25 as Emergency Management Appreciation Week

Recently, Governor Reynolds took action and signed a proclamation recognizing the week of September 21st as Emergency Management Appreciation Week across the state. Reynolds’ proclamation noted the timeliness of pausing and appreciating those who have dedicated their time to help Iowa recover from disasters. In 2020 alone, Iowa has faced the COVID-19 pandemic, a massive derecho storm system, tornadoes, and flooding.

How to Appeal a FEMA Decision

Iowa residents who sustained damage from the August 10 derecho may receive a letter from FEMA saying they are ineligible for disaster assistance and can appeal the decision if they disagree.All disaster assistance applicants have the right to appeal, and sometimes a quick fix is all that is needed. Read your letter carefully to clarify why your application was labeled “ineligible” or “incomplete.

Gov. Reynolds signs new Public Health proclamation adjusting mitigation efforts

Today, Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency.  The proclamation, effective at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, permits bars, taverns, wineries, breweries, distilleries, night clubs to reopen in four counties: Black Hawk, Dallas, Linn, and Polk counties. It also removes the restrictions on hours that alcohol may be sold in restaurants in those counties.

September 8, 2020The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel.
