Benton County Board of Supervisors Minutes December 8, 2020

December 8, 2020 ​The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Bierschenk and Seeman present, Supervisor Primmer met via phone. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Service Center’s conference room.   Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel.

State to return CARES funds for IT expenses, will continue to pursue upgrades

Governor Reynolds has directed the Iowa Department of Management to return $21 million to Iowa’s Coronavirus Relief Fund. The funds were initially allocated for payments related to the state’s contract with Workday, a cloud-based human resources, finance, and planning system being implemented to modernize the state’s IT infrastructure.

An arrest or criminal charge is merely an accusation and the Defendant is presumed innocent, unless proven guilty. Intrastate Warrants are issued by Law Enforcement Agencies for crimes happening in their jurisdictions.

ADVISORY: Iowa to certify Electoral College votes on Monday

Iowa’s six presidential electors will meet Monday, December 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the State Capitol to cast their votes for President and Vice President of the United States.   Governor Kim Reynolds will preside over the meeting and Secretary of State Paul Pate will distribute and collect the electors’ ballots. Iowa law requires electors to cast ballots for the candidates who received the most votes in the state.

Reynolds releases statement on FDA emergency approval for Pfizer vaccine

Governor Reynolds released the following statement on FDA emergency approval of the Pfizer vaccine:    “The FDA approval for the Pfizer vaccine is great news for the state of Iowa and the entire country and will allow us to move forward in our recovery from COVID-19 with even greater certainty.
