Benton County Post-Election Audit of Belle Plaine 2 Successful

The routine election audit of a randomly chosen precinct passed with flying colors. Pursuant to Code of Iowa Sec. 50.51, the Secretary of State’s Office ordered a post-election audit of the November 3, 2020, General Election. Belle Plaine 2 was chosen at random and was the precinct audited. The Benton County Auditor’s Office conducted the audit on Thursday, November 12, at 9:30 a.m. in the Supervisors Office at the Benton County Courthouse.

City Hall to be closed, Wednesday, November 11

City Hall will be closed Wednesday in honor of Veteran’s Day. Lobby Dropbox will be available.

Reynolds signs new proclamation continuing State Public Health Emergency Declaration  A Summary of Enhanced Public Health Measures Effective Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 12:01 a.m. until Monday, Nov. 30 at 11:59 p.m. Gathering Restrictions: Social, community, recreational, or leisure ● If more than 10 people: ○ 6 feet distancing between groups ○ Groups limited to 8 people, with the exception of households larger than 8 ○ Take other reasonable measures to ensure social distancing, increase hygiene, etc.

November 3, 2020 ​November 3, 2020The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.   Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel.

Iowa Derecho Claims Top $1.6 Billion

Since August 10, 2020, Iowans, insurance companies, agents and contractors have worked together to help Iowa recover from this devastating weather event.As of November 2, 2020, more than 200,000 claims have been reported.  Of those claims, nearly 160,000 claims totaling more than $1.6 billion have been paid already.  Insurance companies are holding more than a billion in reserves to be used for the remaining claims.
