City Awarded Community Development Block Grant for down payment assistance
The council sailed through the lengthy agenda on Thursday night. The council approved a Class B liquor license with native wine permit for Cobblestone Inn & Suites.The Mayor read a thank you note from Americorp NCCC's Rob Levis for the way in which the council handled the transfer of the IBSSS property.The council also approved the third and final reading of an ordinance amending parking regulations, and an ordinance amending stop or yield required in the Anderson Creek Addition.
FEMA makes assistance available to public entities in seven additional counties
Gov. Reynolds yesterday received word that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made assistance available to public entities and nonprofits in seven additional counties as well as the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa that were impacted by the Aug. 10 derecho.Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hardin, Iowa, Jackson, and Washington counties have been added to a Presidential Disaster Declaration issued by President Trump on Aug.
Governor Reynolds extends disaster proclamation for derecho-impacted counties
Gov. Kim Reynolds has extended a disaster proclamation for counties impacted by the Aug. 10 derecho.The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather in Audubon, Benton, Boone, Cass, Cedar, Clarke, Clinton, Dallas, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hardin, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Madison, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Story, Tama, and Washington counties.
Benton SWCD Public Meeting Notice
The Benton Soil and Water Conservation District Board is holding a public meeting on September 22nd at 3:00 p.m. at the Benton County Fairgrounds during the Benton County Assistance Fair. The Board will be gathering input about the natural resource issues of the county, as they develop the goals for their 5-year Soil and Water Resources Conservation Plan.
