2021-2022 Iowa AmeriCorps State Funding Opportunity Announcement

Funding OpportunityVolunteer Iowa is pleased to announce the availability of grant funding to plan for and establish AmeriCorps State programs within the State of Iowa.  AmeriCorps State and National grants provide funding to help organizations manage an AmeriCorps program, which involves recruiting, training, and supporting AmeriCorps members who serve on a full-time or part-time basis to help the organization address a community need.

Board of Supervisor minutes 8/11/20

 ​The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.   Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel.

A Federal Declaration for Public Assistance for Government Entities

Declared on  Monday, August 17, a Federal Declaration for Public Assistance affecting government was announced. The declaration will help with emergency protective measures, debris removal, and damage to public infrastructure and or buildings.This declaration covers all of the following counties:Benton, Boone, Cedar, Clinton, Dallas, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Story, and Tama Counties.

UNION SCHOOLS DELAY START OF SCHOOL

In a statement released by the school district, Union Community announced the postponement of the first day of school "Well…. what can we say, other than it is 2020 and it has been a roller coaster ride.On Monday, August 10, a derecho swept through several Iowa communities including Dysart. While power has been restored to the area, power has not been restored to Union Middle School.
