Half Endow Iowa Tax Credits Remain for 2021 Action Encouraged for Tax Credit
Roughly half of Endow Iowa tax credits remain for 2021, as reported by the Iowa Economic Development Authority this week. As of July 20, approximately $3 million in credits remain of the original $6 million available. The Benton County Community Foundation encourages residents across the county to act now to take advantage of the 25% state tax benefit through the Endow Iowa Tax Credit Program by considering a gift to a local cause through the Foundation.

A special meeting of the City Council of Vinton, Iowa, was held on the 30th day of June, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers, Vinton, Iowa. Due to the COVID-19 virus the meeting was also held electronically via ZOOM cloud hosted at 110 W 3rd Street. Reminder: Fill out your Census Forms
The U.S. Census Bureau is asking all Americans to send in their Census forms, counting all who was living in their homes as of, April 1.Most Americans had Census forms mailed to their home addresses earlier this year.The Census Bureau will begin contacting Americans who have not sent in their forms later this month. Participation in the Census is required by federal law.

July 14, 2020The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.

IRS releases Dirty Dozen List of Tax Scams for 2020
The Internal Revenue Service wrapped up its annual ‘Dirty Dozen’ list of tax scams with a special emphasis on aggressive and evolving schemes related to coronavirus tax relief, including Economic Impact Payments. The Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation division urges taxpayers to be vigilant to these tax scams. This year, the Dirty Dozen focuses on scams that target taxpayers.
Reynolds signs public health proclamation advancing Iowa’s Return to Learn Plan
Friday, Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency and taking a number of actions to advance Iowa’s Return to Learn strategy. Watch Gov. Reynolds’ press conference here. The proclamation directs all state agencies, school districts, and local governments to focus on preparing to safely welcome back students and teachers to school in-person in the fall.
