Launch of "Beef Up Iowa" to Help Feed Iowans

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg and Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today announced the Beef Up Iowa program to connect Iowa beef producers with food insecure Iowans. The program is a partnership with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa State University and Iowa’s beef producers, and is an initiative of Gov.

Benton County Board of Supervisors Minutes June 9, 2020

The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.   Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county’s YouTube channel. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.

Reynolds releases statement following unanimous legislative action on HF 2647

Gov. VMEU & VMCU iVinton Update and Considering Solar Options

Link to the MeetingAt Tuesday night's meeting, the VMEU and VMCU board met at their regular meeting. After half an hour of troubleshooting electronic equipment to stream the meeting via Zoom, the meeting began at 5:30 p.m.iVintonThe board was given the status of the iVinton project. At this time there are just over 600 people who have subscribed. Crews are still connecting customers, and behind the scenes billing and working out the miscellaneous kinks of the project are in the final stages.

Reynolds signs proclamation continuing State Public Health Emergency Declaration

Today, Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency. The proclamation, effective at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020, continues to ease restrictions on businesses and extends other public measures until Thursday, June 25, 2020.  It still encourages all vulnerable Iowans, in all counties, to continue to limit their activities outside of the home.

The Iowa state legislature finally went back into session this last week, with some legislators having a little apprehension due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the protests. The state continues improvement with the drop in the numbers of people testing positive and total deaths, and about 60% of people testing positive have recovered.The Iowa House has passed some bills good for Iowans, such as Medical Malpractice Reforms, Senate File 2338, which limits the amount of damages for medical expenses to the actual amount paid on behalf of the injured person.
