Shellsburg Public Library News
Due to the rising COVID-19 cases in Benton County, there are many concerns about reducing the risk of spread. The library will operate under "Orange" Status, which enforces some strict guidelines about services offered.Ok, so what does "orange status" really mean?The library building continues to remain closed to the public.Patrons can call in requests for materials via email or phone, with material pickup available 2 days a week.
Gov. Reynolds signs new proclamation modifying public health measures
Today, Gov. Reynolds signed a new Public Health Disaster proclamation that modifies existing public health measures designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The proclamation requires social distancing and reasonable public health measures for many social, community, business, or leisure gatherings or events. For high school-sponsored events and other sporting or recreational events, including youth and adult sporting events, spectators are no longer limited to just two spectators if all spectators are from the same household.

A draft of the completed [upd]d 2021 Benton County Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is now available for public review and comment.The plan is completely indexed and has 7 sections: Section 1: Introduction and ProfileSection 2: ResolutionsSection 3: Planning ProcessSection 4: Hazard AnalysisSection 5: Risk AssessmentSection 6: Mitigation StrategySection 7: Plan Maintenance The plan is 469 pages long without appendices.
Do you have a Veteran with a story?
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) delivered recorded interviews and documents comprising the stories of service from six Iowa veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces to the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project. Last month, Grassley’s office interviewed veterans at the Waverly Area Veterans Post in Waverly to document their service to the nation.
