Iowa Announces COVID-19 Residential Utility Disruption Prevention Program

Financial Assistance Available to Eligible Low-Income Iowans for COVID-19 Utility Disruption Prevention  Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) today announced the launch of the new Residential Utility Disruption Prevention Program. The program will provide eligible households with up to $2,000 towards electric, natural gas and water bills if they are at risk of disconnection due to an inability to pay due to a COVID-19 related loss of income.

Reynolds extends disaster proclamation for derecho-impacted counties

Gov. Kim Reynolds has extended a disaster proclamation for counties impacted by the Aug. 10 derecho until November 8, 2020.  The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather in Audubon, Benton, Boone, Cass, Cedar, Clarke, Clinton, Dallas, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hardin, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Madison, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Story, Tama, and Washington counties.

NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH: 20 Firearm cases charged in Iowa

DoJ Charges 500+ Domestic Violence-Related Firearm Cases in FY20 Northern District of Iowa Charged Twenty Cases Today, the Department of Justice announced it has charged more than 500 domestic violence cases involving firearms during Fiscal Year (FY) 2020.  A Department priority since 2019 when Attorney General William P. Barr created the Department of Justice’s first ever-Domestic Violence Working Group, these charges are the result of the critical law enforcement partnership between United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, led by Acting Director Regina Lombardo, who has made domestic violence firearms-related investigations a priority.
