Greetings from Under the Golden Dome

On Tuesday the House and Senate announced an agreement on a K-12 education funding package for the next school year. Investing almost $100 million in new funding for schools, this money will include $7.65 million for transportation equity and $5.8 million for per pupil equity. The bill passed out of the Senate on Wednesday and is now headed to the governor for her signature.

City Council: Woodhouse submits resignation

Thursday night's meeting began with the swearing-in of officer Laura Deaton from southern Iowa. The following was approved: meeting agenda consent agenda The Mayor noted that the airport meeting minutes indicated that they were seeking to add an additional hanger at the airport and that he had a quote for a 70 X 60 fully insulated building with concrete slab and foundation.

HELLO HOUSE DISTRICT 75 FROM THE STATE CAPITOL!

Hank Wehrman, Luzerne, visits Capitol to promote the REAP program. This last week was a good week at the Capitol and a good one for Iowans! As a member of the Agriculture Committee, we passed a bill that will create promote E-15 gasoline usage with an infrastructure program that provides incentives for E-15 storage and dispensing but doesn’t include pumps.The Iowa House passed House File 2383, which requires the University of Iowa Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry to admit at least 75% of the students who are residents of Iowa or have completed their undergrad here in the state.
