It was a busy week under the Golden Dome in Des Moines, even though the committees I serve on – Agriculture, Environmental Protection, International Relations, and Economic Development Sub-committee – don’t have many bills assigned yet. There is discussion of increasing the limit of two miles allowed in driving farm equipment between the home farm and the destination farm operation or ground without a driver’s license.

Council plans Meeting Monday evening 6:00 p.m. concerning Street improvements

The City Council met on Thursday night. Before the meeting, the council had a Public Works meeting where the council discussed meter pits as well as the water line and who will own what. The proposed plan is for the city to own the water lines from the main to the city right of way, and the homeowner would own and be responsible for the lines from the right of way to the home.

Representative Gerhold welcome visitors to the Capitol

Rep. Dave Maxwell, Rep. Tom Gerhold, Abby Maas and Jim Johnson This week, Rep. Dave Maxwell (R-Gibson) and Rep. Tom Gerhold (R-Atkins) welcomed constituents from Iowa County, Abby Maas and Jim Johnson, to the Iowa House of Representatives. Maas and Johnson were visiting the Capitol to discuss the future of wind farms with their representatives.

Week One was a very busy one filled with optimism. On Tuesday, Governor Kim Reynolds gave her Condition of the State Address in the House Chamber to both the House and Senate. Wednesday, we had a joint session for the Condition of the Judiciary by Justice Wiggins, and Thursday we had a joint session for the Condition of the National Guard by Major General Benjamin Corell.
