February 21, 2020Subcommittee and committee work took up most, if not all, of our time during the sixth week because the end of the week is the first legislative deadline of the year, nicknamed ‘funnel week.’ This deadline requires most legislation be passed out of committee in its originating chamber – Senate bills need to be out of Senate committees, and House bills need to be out of House committees – in order to continue to be considered this session.

Benton County Board of Supervisor Minutes 2/13/20

February 13, 2020                  The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in special session at 6:00 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Office Building in Vinton.  Supervisor Primmer called the meeting to order with Supervisor’s Primmer and Seeman present. Bierschenk arrived later.                Discussion was held on the FY21 county budget.

Iowa Dept. of Ag and Land Stewardship Awards 4.1 Million to Improvement Projects

More creeks added to water quality improvement projects happening in Benton, Black Hawk, Clayton, Winneshiek and Washington counties Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that five Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) located in Eastern Iowa have been awarded grant money to increase the scope of ongoing water quality improvement projects.
