Kevin Parker

After a brief illness, Kevin Parker passed away on Sept. 30, 2021, from complications of heart disease and COPD.  Kevin was born in Manchester, graduated from West Delaware High School, and majored in Education at Upper Iowa University.  Kevin was a dedicated teacher and coach at Orient-Macksburg (1978-1979) and MFL in Monona (1979-1982). Kevin highly valued his time in Algona (1982-1989), teaching social studies and assisting with the wrestling and volleyball programs.

Marion J. Vaupel

Marion J. Vaupel, 91, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, with his family close by. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1115 Water Street, Center Point. Funeral service will follow at the church with Rev.

Earl Mason

Mark “Thumper” Wordefoff

Mark “Thumper” Wordefoff, 65, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Mark was born on May 15, 1957 in Jesup, Iowa, to Paul and Irene (Peck) Wordehoff. He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1976. Mark enjoyed drinking beer, fishing, yardwork, woodworking, gambling with Mary, and most of all he enjoyed “Dinking” around in the garage building various projects.

Carol Ireland

Carol Ireland, 79, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away May 23, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.She was born May 25, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Carol was raised in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Jefferson High School, class of 1960. She married Leland Ireland in 1961. They lived in Arizona and Texas, had two children and later divorced. Carol was a gifted women with many talents.

Mary Conway

Mary Conway, 74, of Vinton, passed away at her home on Monday, May 23, 2022 following a lengthy illness.Per Mary’s wishes, there will be no services. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.Mary was born In Iowa City on May 31, 1947, the daughter of Wes and Elizabeth (Muesse) Parson.  For over 30 years, Mary was the laundry supervisor at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana.

Dale Duane Benda

Dale Duane Benda, Age 80, passed away at his home in La Porte City, IA on Sunday, May 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.Per the family wishes, all services will be held at a later date.Dale was born on May 4, 1942 in Rural Benton County, IA. He was the son of the late Edward Jon and Maxine Jean (Shaner) Benda. He graduated from La Porte City High School.

Janet Velicer

Janet Velicer died peacefully with family members present on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at her retirement community in Lenexa, Kan. Known as an avid lifelong reader, dedicated educator, lover of the musical fine arts and world traveler, she was 80 years old.Jan was born Janet Frances Schafbuch in 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to parents Geraldine and Allan Schafbuch.

Ty John Casey

Ty John Casey, 39, passed away May 13, 2022. He was born Jan. 20, 1983, in South Korea. That date and the name of Tae Min were given to him when (approximately) at the age of three, he was found in Pusan City, South Korea, alone and assumed abandoned. He then lived in orphanages until Feb. 13, 1988, then through Holt International Adoptions he arrived at the Des Moines Airport to meet his new family, who welcomed him with open arms.

Marion Isbell

Marion Isbell, 96, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home in Vinton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.Marion May Waldorf was born August 28, 1925 in Estherville to Horace and Florence (Cable) Waldorf. In 1930, the family moved to Vinton where they purchased the Palace Theater.
