Charlotte Kerkman of Blairstown passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the age of three months and seven days. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Blairstown American Legion with the Rev. Diane Vorhies officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, at the Blairstown American Legion. (Cherveny) Whitson, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Virginia Hospital in Vinton with her sons by her side.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton. B. Andrew Wright officiating.Carol was born on May 17, 1943 in Vinton, the daughter of Robert and Edna (Husted) Bergen. Timothy Allen Hoskins, age 45, was unexpectedly taken from his friends and family way too soon on May 2, 2022. He passed away peacefully at his home in Walford, IA.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Clover Ridge United Methodist Church in Walford with Pastor Kolleen Queener officiating. Seaman First Class David Franklin Tidball, 20, of Independence, Iowa, died December 7, 1941, aboard the USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor at the beginning of World War Two. On March 3, 2021, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that his remains had been recovered and identified and will be brought back to Iowa for Interment in the Tidball Family Plot.
