Dana Lynn Tow, age 66 of Atkins, IA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, August 13, 2022. His wife, Linda, was at his side. Dana was born July 16, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN to Rodney and Janice Tow. He spent the first half of his childhood in Minnetonka and the latter half in Marine on St. Croix, MN. He graduated Stillwater High School in 1974.

Carrol Ann Stark went to see her Lord Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Per mom’s wishes, there will be a private family funeral at a later date. Carrol was born on July 28, 1935 to Frank and Grace Brecht. She was the youngest of five children. She was born and raised in Norway, Iowa. She attended Norway School and graduated in 1953. She was a cheerleader at NHS, played the piano and competed in a music recital.
Charles Edwin Breden Jr, 74, joined his parents on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 6:11 pm at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on July 17, 1948, in Carrollton, IL the son of the late Charles E. and Millie (Vrla) Breden Sr.Charles served his country in the United States Air Force and Reserves for 24 years. He worked for Hogan Trucking as a truck driver for 11 years in which he enjoyed seeing the country.

Cora Ann (Brokaw) Pillard, 85, of Prairieburg, Iowa, passed away from cancer on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Cora’s life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at the Central City American Legion Hall - Wapsi Post 421, located at 6 Central City Road in Central City, Iowa.

Richard Ronald Holst, 78, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, Dysart. Visitation will be 4:00–7:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at the church. Burial will be in the Dysart Cemetery, Dysart.Richard was born in the Vinton Hospital on June 28, 1944, the son of Harry and Angeline (Wieben) Holst.
Chad Quentin Renken was born the son of Roger and Elizabeth (Ter Hark) Renken on Dec. 10, 1969, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Chad passed away at home unexpectedly from unknown health complications on Aug. 11, 2022.At the age of two, he was diagnosed as being hearing impaired. At the age of four, he moved with his family to Vinton to attend school in Cedar Rapids for his education.
Sharon K. (Hiler) Wullner, age 82, of Midway, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Private family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Sharon was born on April 24, 1940 in Vinton, the daughter of Darrell and Marjorie (Carlisle) Hiler. She was united in marriage to Don Wullner on March 26, 1989 in Vinton.
Thomas E. Cannon, 70, of Urbana, IA, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022.No services are planned at this time.Thomas Eugene Cannon was born September 10, 195,1 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Francis and Marjorie (Ryan) Cannon. Upon graduation from Atlantic High School in 1969, he moved to California and lived there for six years on the beach. He enjoyed surfing and collecting driftwood and seashells to make many different crafts that were shared with family and friends.
Marion H. Schminke, 90, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 in a vehicle accident, near Vinton.Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2022 at New Covenant Bible Church (3090 N. Center Point Rd.) in Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Jay Haugh officiating. Private family interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Shellsburg, prior to the service.
Polly Jane Sorensen, 66, of Ravenwood Specialty Care, died Monday, Aug. 8 at Unity Point Hospice, Waterloo.She was born Oct. 19, 1955 in Waterloo, daughter of Alvin E. and Nancy Higley Sorensen, Jr. Polly graduated from River Hills School, Cedar Falls.Polly worked at Parkview Nursing Home and volunteered at Black Hawk Center for Independent Living.She loved to color, enjoyed visiting with people and will be remembered for making friends easily.
