Patricia “Pat” Ann (Schroeder) Cayton

Patricia “Pat” Ann (Schroeder) Cayton, age 88 passed away peacefully on June 13, 2022 at the Western Home, Martin Suites Center in Cedar Falls. Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, Iowa, with Pastor Stephen Preus officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.

Ronald LeRoy Hunt

Ronald LeRoy Hunt, age 67, left this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in the woods at Red Brush, where he lived his solitary life, with his cats nearby. A celebration of life will be held to honor him on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 4:30 until 8:00 PM at the Pleasant Creek South Pavilion by the boat dock. He is survived by 2 children, Ronny Hunt of Marion, and Toni Hunt of Williamsburg; 6 grandchildren; brother Bill (Toodie) Hunt of Shellsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Blake Edward Benson

Blake Edward Benson, 52, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, following a courageous battle with cancer.A celebration of Blake’s life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton.

James “Jim” D. Kirk

James “Jim” D. Kirk, 90, passed away peacefully at his rural Vinton residence on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is assisting the family. Jim was born June 21, 1931 at Vinton, the son of Albert and Mable (Jerolaman) Kirk. He attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1949, and then attended Iowa State University earning a degree in agriculture.

Marilyn E. (Junge) Rieder

Marilyn E. (Junge) Rieder, 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Newhall, with the Rev. Craig Steimel as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 17, also at the church. Memorials may be made in her name to the Newhall Library and the Newhall American Legion Auxiliary.

William "Earl" Morrison

William "Earl" Morrison, 72, of Belle Plaine, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Per his wishes, he will be cremated. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday,July 3, at Knoll Ridge Country Club in North English, Iowa. A remembrance ride will be held at a later date.He was born on Oct. 21, 1949, in North English, Iowa, to Warren and Naomi (Lockridge) Morrison.

Marvin Witte

Marvin Witte, 92, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away May 23, 2022, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison, Iowa. A celebration of life for Marvin and Arlene Witte will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 27, 2022, at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel.Marvin was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Hutchinson, the son of Charles and Minnie (Fratzke) Witte. He attended grades one-four at School District #120 at Lakeside in Renville County.

Virginia Marion Ferguson

Virginia Marion Ferguson, 94, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021. A family graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Urbana Memorial Cemetery, Urbana.Virginia was born in Deer Lodge, Mont. Later moved to Seattle, Wash., where her and husband Marshal lived. She worked at Woolworths's downtown Seattle for 48 years.

Daniel J. Bearns

Daniel J. Bearns, 69, of Las Vegas, Nev., died May 26, 2022, at his home following a long illness.Dan was born on April 6, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to James and Rita (Kiley) Bearns.Dan graduated from LaSalle High School and Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dan went on to earn his BSN from Texas University. He spent the majority of his 50-year career in nursing working with patients in home health care and hospice.

Dwain Oliver Jordt

Dwain Oliver Jordt, 87, of Norway, IA passed away June 7, 2022 at The Gardens, Cedar Rapids, IA.Dwain was born October 2, 1934 to Elmer and Ruth (McGregor) Jordt in Van Horne, IA. He graduated from Blairstown, IA, class of 1953. Following school, Dwain worked for Kimm’s Concrete in Blairstown and Collins Radio before joining the U.S. Army. Upon returning from his service Dwain married Gwendolyn Mae Reid on June 15, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, IA.
