Gale “Hoot” Heitmann

Gale “Hoot” Heitmann, age 67, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at his home in rural Keystone.Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery at a later date.Gale was born, on August 4, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Elmer and Edna (Olmsted) Heitmann.

Shirley Lavonne Turner Pippert

Shirley Lavonne Turner Pippert, 96, passed away at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, on Thursday, January 13, 2022 following a brief illness.Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.Shirley was born October 5, 1925 to Edward and Vera (Merchant) Turner on the family farm outside of Garrison.

Travis Speer

Travis Speer, age 41, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications of a cerebral aneurism. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Maranatha Bible Church (526 3rd Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids) with Pastor Aaron Telecky officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, also at the church.

William Edward Cummings

Bill Cummings, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior and beloved wife, Faye, on December 7, 2021. Bill was born April 22, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Roger Allen and Ethel Mae (Seely) Cummings. At an early age he moved with his family to Vinton. He was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vinton.On June 3, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Faye Baldwin, at the Assembly of God Church in Vinton.

Arthur Franklin Harris

Arthur Franklin Harris, age 79, Bloomington, California passed suddenly on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home. He was born in Iowa on June 5, 1942, to Thornton and Bernelta (Bahnsen) Harris.He graduated from Tipton High School in 1961 and joined the Navy in 1963. Art married his wife Sharon Lee (Hope) Harris of California in June of 1963. He worked for GTE which later became Verizon, retired 2002.

Zelda K. Powers

Zelda K. Powers, 77, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at her home in Quasqueton.Zelda was born July 7, 1944, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of George J. and Iris I. (Kress) Scott. Her family moved throughout eastern Iowa but always called Quasqueton home. She graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1962. She married Harold E.

Bobby Lee Peacock

Bobby Lee Peacock, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022. Per his wishes, there will be no services or visitation for the public. Private graveside service for immediate family only will be held at a later date in Norway Cemetery in Norway, Iowa.Bobby was born June 16, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Leonard and Audrey (Weichman) Peacock.

Curtis “Bill” Foreman

Curtis “Bill” Foreman, 62, of Palo, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5- 7 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, with a Masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Celebration of Life will continue from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the El Kahir Shrine, 905 Tower Terrace Road, Hiawatha, Iowa.
