Jeff Kromminga, 61, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, as the result of an accident at his Keystone farm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday June 22, 2021, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne with Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery. Leona Helen Waters, 89, of Shellsburg, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. Per Leona's request, she is to be cremated and placed with her husband, Edgar Waters. The family will be having a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. June 25, 2021 at the Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City, Iowa. Karen Joanne Bartachek, 84, of Maquoketa, IA passed away June 13, 2021 at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa.Karen was the daughter of Louis and Helen (Formanek) Bartachek born on April 2, 1937 in Belle Plaine. IA. Karen graduated from Belle Plaine High School and Iowa State Teachers College with a BA in Instrumental Music. Lynne Marie (Rischer) Pealer, age 66, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo, with her family by her side.A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 PM, Friday June 25, 2021, at Tara Hills Country Club, rural Van Horne.Lynne was born on June 11, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Joan (Seda) Rischer, and graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in 1972. Roger James Evans, 77, passed away Monday, June 7th, 2021, at Allen Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa following a battle with cancer.He was born August 10th, 1943, to Merrill James Evans and Neva Ruth (Stevenson) Evans in Vinton, Iowa.Roger was born with a disability that, at that time in our society, should have been extremely limiting for him. He refused to accept those limitations and achieved an independence and lust for life that many, without disabilities, fail to achieve.
Gregory “Greg” Alec Breja
Gregory “Greg” Alec Breja, 50, of Elberon, IA passed away suddenly, June 5, 2021 at his home, due to a heart condition. Greg was born October 11, 1970 in Waterloo, IA to Stephen and Elizabeth “Betty” (Gindt) Breja. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1989. Douglas Gene Thompson, age 69, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 7, 2021 at his home in Vinton Private family services will be held. Douglas was born October 9, 1951 to William and Arlene (Bushnell) Thompson. He attended Washington High School in Vinton. He served his country in the United States Army and later enlisted in the Navy.

Richard John (Dick or affectionately called Dickie Doo) Mouchka, 85, passed away peacefully Friday, May 28, 2021, at his home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.Dick was born and graduated from high school in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Charley and Opal Mouchka. He served the Army in Alaska and then returned to Marengo, Iowa, where he farmed and fed cattle for many years.
