Silker, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at University Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 20, 2020 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) Vinton, with Rev. Kurt Brubaker officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Shirley Jensen, 87, passed away peacefully at the Vinton Lutheran Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from cancer. Private graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Shirley Lou Saunders was born February 28, 1933 in Urbana, the daughter of James Russell and Anita Louise Sheeley Saunders.

(Harder) Swick, age 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until 1:45 PM also at the church on Friday.

Donald Andrew Ernest Kuch, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne with Rev. David Lingard officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery with graveside military rites. Due to Covid 19 concerns, there will be no public visitation at the church and social distancing will be practiced.

Darloe L. Vitek, 89, passed away in Weslaco, TX on July 10, 2020 after a brief illness at home with his wife Betty Lou by his side. He was born in Chelsea, Iowa on September 1, 1930 and lived in Iowa much of his life. After traveling the country and wintering in South Texas he [st]tled there in 1995. Survivors to cherish and remember him include his wife, Betty Lou of Weslaco, TX; sons, Dennis (Becky) Vitek of Forest City, IA and David (Cheryl) Vitek of Liberty Township, OH; daughters, Kathy (John) Bishop of Statesboro, GA, Pat Albertsen of Erlanger, KY, Darla (Jeff) Kromminga of Keystone, IA, Barb (Eric) Nielsen of Peoria, IL; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 24, at First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, where a memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. A mask is encouraged because of social distancing guidelines. Inurnment: private at Koszta Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Gloria Jean Kies, 65, of Brandon, Iowa, passed peacefully with her children by her side on July 1, 2020. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 11, hosted by her husband and their children at his residence. She born Feb. 5, 1955, in Dinsdale, Iowa, to Roy Dedrick and Violet Dedrick. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, crocheting, playing pool, dirt track races, her football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, and traveling, and briefly lived in Arizona.
