Donald P. Ward

Donald P. Ward, 93, passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2020, from natural causes, at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids.A private Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Watkins with burial at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery in Watkins.Donald was born January 8, 1927 in Clarence, Iowa, the son of David and Gladys Ward Fisher.

Rosemary Trimble

Rosemary Trimble, 84, of Atkins, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2020, with her children by her side. Rosemary was born March 18, 1936, to Thomas and Elfie (Schmidt) Gibney in Watkins. She graduated from Norway High School in 1954. She waitressed at  Ced-Rel Supper Club and Frontier Inn. Rosemary sold Avon for many years in the Atkins area.

Ger A. Edwards

Ger A. Edwards, 62, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 exploring the river he loved. Ger was born in Spencer May 20, 1958 to Gerald and Gloria (Pullen) Edwards. Ger graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Des Moines. He began his college education in Yankton, SD and went on to earn Bachelor of Arts degrees in English as well as Radio and TV at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

Beverly A. (Wilt) White

Beverly A. (Wilt) White, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at her rural Shellsburg home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Oak Grove Church in rural Shellsburg, with the Rev. Matt Magee officiating.  Funeral ceremonies are currently permitted as a spiritual or religious gathering. However, vulnerable, or high-risk folks should use discretion in attendance.

Daryl Gene Franzenburg

Daryl Gene Franzenburg, age 55, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.Private family funeral services will be held with burial at the Keystone Cemetery.Daryl was born on April 13, 1965 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gene and Dorothy (Bates) Franzenburg.  He graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1983.  On September 11, 1993, he was united in marriage to Gina (Benson) Wells in Cedar Rapids, they had two sons, Caleb and Trevor, the couple later divorced.

James E. Walker

James E. Walker, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton after a sudden illness.Private family services will be held at Prairie Creek Church with Pastor Kurt Brubaker officiating. Burial will be at Bear Creek Cemetery.Jim was born February 10, 1938, on the family farm north of Vinton, the son of Bert and Luetta Sallee Walker.

Tracee Ann Kirkpatrick

Tracee Ann Kirkpatrick, 66, of Dike, died Friday, May 22, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo of cancer. She was born Dec. 16, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Dean and Dolores (O’Brien) Johnson. She graduated from Benton Community High School in 1972. Tracee attended UNI, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in 1976, majoring in food nutrition and business; she was a sister of Alpha Chi Omega.

Charles R. "Chick" Atkinson

Charles R. "Chick" Atkinson, 96, of Cedar Rapids died on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at West Ridge Care Center. Services on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial with military rites at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Fahlen of Mesa, Ariz.

Todd “Chips” Allen Meyer

 Todd “Chips” Allen Meyer, age 53 passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after a courageous six-year battle with Kidney Cancer surrounded by family and his lifelong best friend just the way he wanted it.A private service will be held Friday, May 29, 2020 at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, Iowa. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Hugo Rammelsberg

Hugo Rammelsberg, age 85, of Marion, formerly of rural Vinton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids. A celebration of Hugo’s life will be held at a later date, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Hugo was born on May 28, 1934 on the family farm in Polk Township near Vinton, the son of Melvin and Nettie (Krug) Rammelsberg.
