David James Sheffler, 81, passed away peacefully at La Porte City Specialty Care on Friday, November 27, 2020 from Covid 19..  Updated: Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City with Pastor Allen Craft officiating. Private family burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton.

Louis Dale Kaiser, 98, worked at Frontier Ranch, built his own, numerous homes, pastored Oak Street ChapelLouis Dale Kaiser passed away Nov. 11 at his home, surrounded by his family. He went on to be with his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with his wife Sallie.He was born Sept. 22, 1922 on the family farm in Denton City near Vinton, Iowa.

Heather Lynn (Cohrt) Kaiser, age 38, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at home in Van Horne.A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with interment at the Keystone Cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established.Heather was born on August 28, 1982, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Gary and Karen (Blanchard) CohrtHeather’s greatest joy in life was her daughter Laurynn, she dearly loved the time they shared together.

Clarence “Dale” Bruce, 90, Cedar Rapids, formerly from Vinton, passed away on December 15, 2020. Services will be held at First Christian Church in Vinton on Saturday December 19, 2020 at 2pm with military right presented by the Iowa Military Funeral Honor Guard. Because of Covid restrictions, no visitation or meal will be held at this time. The family requests you attend in a safe manner with a mask and appropriate social distancing.

Thomas Patrick Haan, age 62, of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed peacefully Friday, December 4, 2020, at his home. Tom was born on June 28, 1958 in Luverne, Minnesota the son of John Henry and Catherine Jeanne (Follett) Haan. He attended South Tama County School in Tama, Iowa where he participated in football and wrestling. He later obtained his BS in Physics from Western Washington University.

Bonnie G. (Simnacher) Richart, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 at home with her children by her side.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Interment will be held at the Urbana Cemetery at a later date.

Douglas Stephen Stulken, 51, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center.Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Catholic church in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Mark Murphy as Celebrant.  Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials or condolences may be mailed to Karen Stulken, P.

Bentley Gene Tarvin entered this world silently on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, the son of Ben and Jena (Erger) Tarvin. His big sister, Raylee, lovingly called him "Strawberry," and was very certain that he should be called Baby Strawberry. Bentley gained his heavenly wings to watch over his parents, Ben and Jena Tarvin, and his big sister, Raylee; his maternal grandparents, Shawn and Jodi (Fisher) Erger; his paternal grandparents, Jeannie Tarvin and David (Brenda) Tarvin; his aunts, uncles and cousins, Paige (Tim) Plummer and Eddy and Cora, Mike (Melinda) Tarvin, Brianna and Gabriel, Kathy (Eric Buneta) Tarvin and Octavia; and great-grandparents, Mary Jane Fisher, Pat Erger and Curtis (Imogene) Machen.

Ellen Stiegelmeyer, 88, formerly of Vinton Iowa and Cedar Rapids Iowa, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday December 10, 2020, after losing her battle with Covid-19.Ellen was born in Marengo, Iowa on August 31, 1932 to Bruce and Alice (Schumacher) Hedges. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1950, then graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College in 1952.

Keith E. Slusher, 61, formerly of Marco Island, FL, died Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.    Keith was born July 9, 1959 at Kokomo, Indiana to Harold and Emilie (Zell) Slusher.  He lived most of his life in Marco Island, FL., where he owned and operated his carpet cleaning business, “Sparkle Cleaning”.
