Gene Walter Herring, 90 of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, IA.Gene was born Feb. 5, 1933 to Walter and Mary (Ransom) Herring in Blairstown, IA. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1951. Gene lived in and near Belle Plaine for his entire life. He delivered bottled gas, worked for Maytag, and spent many years as a plumber in Belle Plaine.
Louise V. Weeda
Louise V. Weeda, 87, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Dec. 17, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home following a battle with cancer.Louise was born on April 24, 1936, in Tingley, Iowa, to Ira and Mearl (Hancock) Weeda. Growing up on a farm near Tingley, she graduated from Tingley High School in 1954. In her youth, Louise accepted Christ as her Lord and was true to that choice until death.
Eugene (Gene) Clerkin
Eugene (Gene) Clerkin, 84 passed away December 18, 2023 at Windsor Manor in Vinton following complications from a fall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 22nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM also at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in What Cheer, Iowa at 3:15 pm.

Donald Edward Grace, 81, of rural Shellsburg, Iowa, and formerly of Oxford, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private family services were Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at White Funeral Home, Independence, Iowa, with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Don was born on Oct. 5, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Gerald Eugene Grace and Anna Bernice (Mahoney) Grace.

David Shawn Flaucher, 60, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away November, 27, 2023 at his home. David was born October 6, 1963 to Richard and Elizabeth (King) Flaucher in Cedar Rapids, IA. He graduated from Washington High School and enlisted into the U.S. Navy in August 1983. Serving on the USS Point Loma and USS Vancouver as a Hull Maintenance Technician with Inport and At Sea Emergency Response Team.

Dennis Charles Augustine, 76, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at his home.He was born on November 23, 1947, in Marshalltown, the son of Victor and Vivian (Nason) Augustine. Dennis was raised and educated in the Grundy Center area graduating with Class of 1966 at Grundy Center. After graduating from high school Dennis attended college at Northeast Missouri State, graduating in 1971 with a B.
Kenneth Benda
Kenneth was born June 14, 1939, in La Porte City, Iowa, to Edward and Maxine (Shaner) Benda.He graduated from La Porte High School in 1957, then attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago for two years, earning his degree in electronics.In 1965, he married Patricia Brown at the Church of the Brethren in Orange Township.Ken was part of the electronics team from Cape Canaveral, Florida, that put the man on the moon on Apollo 11 in 1969.

Donald Dean (Don) Anders, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Colonial Manor in Amana.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery, following the luncheon at the church.
