Edward J. Pickart

Edward J. Pickart, 95, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 29, 2024. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 3, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton.Ed was born March 27, 1929, in Parkston, SD, the son of Anton and Lena (Bigge) Pickart. They moved to a farm near Norway when Ed was a small child. He attended school in Norway and started farming with his father at a young age.

Eleanor Maye Elliott

Eleanor Maye Elliott was born on April 30, 1936, in Garrison, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Alice (Nichols) Gonnerman. She graduated from Dysart High School. Eleanor married Eugene Elliott on August 7, 1955, at EUB Church in Dysart; he preceded her in death March 9, 1999. She worked at the Yarn Tree, sold Avon, and was employed at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, all in Dysart, for many years.

Brett Theodore Solberg

Brett Theodore Solberg, aged 66, of Vinton, Iowa, was called to his rest on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. A visitation will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Schaeffer officiating.   Interment will be held at the Rowley Cemetery.

Donald Elmer Jones

Donald Elmer Jones, 81, of Cedar Rapids, IA formerly of Keokuk, IA passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at his home.He was born November 22, 1942 in Marshalltown, IA the son of Elmer W. and Pearl I. Matthews Jones.  Don graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1961.Don was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

Florence Louise Balvin

Florence Louise Balvin, 91, of Chelsea, IA passed away July 24, 2024 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelsea. Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service with a Rosary at 4:30 p.

Duane Leo Clark

Duane Leo Clark, 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, following a lengthy illness. Per Duane’s wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, is caring for Duane and his family.Duane was born December 5, 1946, in Urbana, the son of Floyd and Darlene (Kramer) Clark.

Jacque Lee (Latham) Sanderson

Jacque Lee (Latham) Sanderson, age 74, of Holiday Lake, formerly of Keystone, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Brooklyn Community Estate.  She was surrounded by loving family and compassionate caregivers during her last days and at the time of her passing.The family will hold a visitation on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, at St.

Mary K. Brandt, 99, of Atkins, IA, formerly of Waukon, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at home in Atkins. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2nd, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until time of services at the church on Friday.

Terry R. Housman, age 87 of Marengo, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Compass Memorial Hospital, Marengo.Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2024, First United Methodist Church, Marengo. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 27, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Marengo Cemetery.

Reta Joy (Seeley) Root

Reta Joy (Seeley) Root, 81, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 14, 2024.Reta was born in Rockford, Illinois on March 20, 1943 to Maxine Sherck & Albert Seeley of Centerville, Iowa. Reta’s family lived in Galesburg, IL and settled in Centerville, IA where she graduated from Centerville High School. Following high school, Reta went to Cedar Rapids and worked at Mercy Hospital as a nursing assistant.
