Teresa Marie Candelaria (Corcran)

Teresa Marie Candelaria (Corcran), 47, of Cedar Rapids, passed away May 31, 2024.  A Celebration Of Life will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, 1-4 PM, at Sailboat Shelter #1, Sailboat Road, Solon, Iowa.Teresa was born May 9, 1977 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of James E. Corcran and Nancy J. Montague (Corum).Teresa was united in marriage to Hector M. Candelaria on April 4, 2024 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Kathleen Kay Satterlee Shipley

Kathleen Kay Satterlee Shipley, cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 1st, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.Born in 1958 in Millington, Tennessee, Kathy was the daughter of Bill and Karen (Merchant) Satterlee. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, Iowa, in 1977 before embarking on a journey that led her to Phoenix, where she pursued her passion for law through an institutionally accredited paralegal studies program.

Francis “Franny” Henry Kimm

Francis “Franny” Henry Kimm, 98, peacefully passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice, surrounded by the love of family and following a full, active life. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, from 1-4 PM at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone. A family graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown.  Franny was born February 10, 1926, in Blairstown, Iowa, to Porter John and Esther Elizabeth (Schaffer) Kimm.

Elizabeth Marie (Grunewald) Kimm

 Elizabeth Marie (Grunewald) Kimm, 76, of Blairstown died of dementia related complications, on December 14, 2023, surrounded by her children and under the care of Advanced Healthcare Hospice in Overland Park, Kansas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, June 8, 2024 at 11:00am at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until 10:45am, also at the church.

“Moe” Ralph E. Bright

 “Moe” Ralph E. Bright 90, of Atkins passed away on June 5, 2024 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th St), with Pastor Douglas Woltemath officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM also at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Ann Gates

Elizabeth Ann Gates, 82, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away June 2, 2024.Elizabeth was born October 5, 1941 the daughter of Mike and Lyda (Benett) Hoover. She graduated Belle Plaine High School the class of 1959. Following school, she worked in Cedar Rapids until moving to Seattle Washington where she met Sanford Gates. The couple were married to this union they had one son Glenn, they later divorced.

Ronald (Ron) Dean Miller

Ronald (Ron) Dean Miller was born January 7, 1947, on his parents’ farm outside Parnell, Iowa. He attended a rural one-room school until 5th grade when the school closed and he went on to North English Community School, where he graduated with the Class of 1965. Ron excelled at track and held the Iowa High School 100-yard dash record for many years at 9.

Cheryl Lynn Carlson

Cheryl Lynn Carlson, formerly of Newhall, IA, died on November 18, 2023 following a lengthy illness. She was born on November 25, 1945 to Harold and Marjorie Weichman Carlson and attended Newhall High School where she graduated in the class of 1963. She was a member of the Newhall High School marching band and became drum majorette for the ensemble.

Sylvia Ann Merchant

Sylvia Ann Merchant, 87, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, under the hospice care of Compassus.Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church, 608 1st Avenue, in Vinton, with Pastor Johannes Poetschner officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
