Sylvia Ann Merchant, 87, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, under the hospice care of Compassus.Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church, 608 1st Avenue, in Vinton, with Pastor Johannes Poetschner officiating. Donald Jo Holan, 78, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at home.Donald was born March 16, 1946 at the Corn Belt Hospital in Belle Plaine, the son of Henery John and Irene Mary (Neitzel) Holan. He grew up in Chelsea, IA and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. After high school Donald enlisted in the United States Army. He returned to Belle Plaine following his honorable discharge.

Glen Edward Frese Jr., 58, of Atkins, IA passed away May 29, 2024 surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer. Glen was born December 5, 1965 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Growing up in rural Watkins, IA, he graduated from Norway High School, Class of 1984. Following school, Glen farmed and drove truck with his father on the Frese family farm for 40 years. Wineva Pederson, 98, of Des Moines and Vinton, died peacefully, Friday, May 24th of congestive heart failure.Winifred Wineva Spickard was born to Onetta Mageehon and John Spickard in Walnut, Kansas on October 15, 1925.Wineva grew up on the family farm in Spickard, MO, a small rural community founded by her ancestor George Alexander Spickard in 1873. Dean Allen Robison collapsed during therapy at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, on May 21, 2024, at 3:36 pm in the afternoon.Dean grew up in the Walker area on the family farm working odd jobs until he went to work with Carlson Construction driving a dump truck.
