Marcia L. Sackett
On September 9th, 2023, heaven called home a remarkable woman who left an everlasting mark on her community. Marcia Lee Sackett, age 86, of Walker, Iowa, peacefully passed away at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa.Born on January 20, 1937, in Vinton, Iowa, Marcia was the daughter of Oscar L. and Hester (Stone) Anderson. Her early years in Vinton were but the prelude to a life filled with boundless community spirit.
John Robert Rice
John Robert Rice, 87, of Dysart, passed away on August 30, 2023. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart.John was born April 4, 1936, in Mesick, Mich., in the home of his grandparents. John spent most of his childhood in Mesick, graduating from Mesick High School in 1954.In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country for three years of active duty, and an additional five years of inactive duty.
Larry L. Schieb
Larry L. Scheib went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A Celebration of life will be held at Radiant Church on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 11:30 AM. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. In accordance with Larry’s wishes, his body has been deeded to the Des Moines University Department of Medicine & Health Sciences.
Matthew D. Zach
Matthew D. Zach, 62, of Van Horne, passed away on Sept. 5, 2023, at Winslow House Care Center. A visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.Matt was born on Aug. 12, 1961, to Garfey and Kay (Schneider) Zach in Cedar Rapids where he lived for most of his life.
Gregory “Greg” Brian Reese
Gregory “Greg” Brian Reese died on September 3, 2023 at his home in Dysart. Born on April 27, 1966, in Des Moines, Greg was the son of Ernie and Susan (Gilman) Reese. Greg’s family moved to Pella when he was nine years old. He graduated from Pella Community High School in 1984. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Northern Iowa.
Anders Jensen Norgaard
Anders Jensen Norgaard, 79, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away after a sudden illness on Sept. 3, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children.Anders was born June 4, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Lt. Col. Jens A. Norgaard and Mary Jo (Silvy) Norgaard. He spent the majority of his childhood in Northwest Indiana.

Larry Joseph Taylor, was born December 14, 1952 in Oelwein, Iowa. A resident of Belle Plaine, he passed away on August 29th, 2023 in Belle Plaine, Iowa.Larry was the father of Nicole Barth, Jeanette Dostal, Jason Taylor all of Iowa and Jessica Taylor of Wisconsin.

Frederick “Fred” Lawrence Lutz Jr., 76, of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion, Iowa. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept.
Delores May Janss
Delores May Janss, 94, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away September 3, 2023 at Keystone Care Center.Delores was born December 23, 1928 to Eldo and Idella (Gwecke) Meyer. She attended country school in rural Benton County and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following school, Delores worked for a local dentist office. On February 27, 1949 she married Thomas Janss at the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine.
Barbara A. Kiler
Barbara A. Kiler, 84, of Brandon, Iowa, died on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at her home in Brandon, Iowa.Barbara was born on Jan. 31, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of James and Laura (Marsh) Bowers. She was raised in Brandon, Iowa, and attended the Brandon Community Schools. On Nov. 8, 1956, Barbara married Lytell H. Kiler in Princeton, Mo. They lived in Denver and La Porte City, Iowa, for a short time before making Brandon, Iowa, their forever home again.
