Rodd A. Emerson, age 59, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home in Shellsburg, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August, 17, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home Vinton. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM on Thursday, also at the funeral home. Surrounded by family, Theron D. Gordon, known to most as “Gordy”, of Newhall, died Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Jay Dean Wilson was welcomed into the Wilson family on April 13, 1957. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa, the third of seven Wilson children, and raised by his loving parents, Robert Dean and Mardene (Fisher) Wilson. Gerald “Jerry” Laughridge, 63, passed Feb. 3, 2023, with loving family by his side.Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother (Orville, Arlene); and brothers and sisters (Les, Dale, Jack, Jim, Carol). Larry LeRoy Rouse, Sr., 81, was lovingly surrounded by family when he passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 following a short illness. Per Larry’s wishes, there will be no services. Connie Sue Pennell, 84, of LaPorte City, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, following a brave a valiant fight with cancer.Connie was born on November 21, 1938, the daughter of William & Mary Katherine (Gross) Bechthold. The family lived in Waterloo and moved to LaPorte City around 1950.
